In AdAge: How news organizations will work with sponsored content.  Sponsored content has existed for a long time.  But now it become less clear who is sponsoring the 'news'.   Even a very small operation like this blog has occasional articles sponsored by much larger groups, like IBM.   A small and unsophisticated example of what is going on.   The article provides lots of examples.

Coke All Digital Ahhs

In Mashable:   Interesting comparison of digital and classical approaches.  The strong sharing aspect is particularly interesting.    " .... Coca-Cola's first all-digital campaign has resulted in 4 million visits to the 40 websites created for the effort, and about half of those views came as a result of visitors sharing media with friends, the company said. Visitors to the "Ahh" campaign's sites stayed for an average of two-plus minutes, a "time spent" factor that exceeds the time teens would pay attention to a television ad. "The objective was engagement. We got teens going from one site to the next once they go in," said Jennifer Healan, Coke's group director of integrated marketing ... "

Gmail's New Tabbed Layout and Advertising

Was wondering how Gmail's new tabbed layout, which uses an  algorithm to separate primary and promotional email, might affect email advertising?  I like the prefabricated categorization.  But will this effectively allow me to ignore promotional emails?   Adage suggests is won't be a problem for Email advertising, but I still have my doubts.

P&G's Changes in Spending

In AdAge:   A good detailed piece on P&G's moves in ad spending. " ... P&G's marketing spend is about one-third digital, CEO says  Procter & Gamble is directing as much as 35% of its marketing budget to digital media as the company tries to match customer presence online and on mobile devices, CEO A.G. Lafley said. Digital has been a faster way to reach customers and get their feedback, other executives added. P&G brands with a large digital concentration include Pampers, Secret and Old Spice. ... "
