SAP Sensing Real Time Demand

Press release.  Have not examined this yet, but it is of interest. SAP was looking at this forecasting direction over a decade ago.   The question always arises:  What then is your real-time?  The claim looks fairly standard, without much about real-time: " ...  The application captures historical forecast trends, compares and mathematically blends different forecast sources with demand analytics and characterizes demand by analyzing historical forecast accuracy, bias and intermittency trends. ... "

More on P&G's activity in the demand forecasting realm.   Note the significant use of the word 'sensing',  as we gain more sensors in the world, this capability will be tuned and delivered in many other enterprises.   " .... The global implementation of Multi-Enterprise Demand Sensing from Terra Technology is expected to better meet the needs of retailers and consumers around the world.  ... "

Limits to the Limits of Growth

I read the Club of Rome's Limits to Growth shortly before entering college.  I was much impressed by the details and predictions for the near future. The lesson I learned, now finally resolved, is that you should not believe everything you read.   Models are always wrong, the question only being: How wrong are they?  More on Limits from MJ Perry.
