Nokia Looks at the Connected Car

In GigaOM:   Not unexpected, though I was a little surprised seeing Nokia here. A good overview of that this might look like:  

" ... Nokia believes its can use its role as the auto industry’s mapmaker as a launchpad into the connected car. In an interview with GigaOM, Nokia Here EVP Michael Halbherr shares his vision of the Nokia-powered vehicle. ... 

Rumors of a Nokia tablet has got the tech world buzzing, but Nokia’s plans to expand beyond the handset are much more ambitious than producing a mere slate. Nokia EVP of Location and Commerce Michael Halbherr told GigaOM that the Finnish handset maker is eyeballing the car as the next repository of its technology and applications and has plans to launch some form of connected car platform in the future. ... "

Connected Vehicles

In Engadget:  Note the integration with decision flow.  Ford studies space robots to improve communications with connected cars.  " ... by studying the way robots interact, Ford hopes to develop its cars' communications systems so that tasks like contacting emergency services after an accident will be performed even if the vehicle is damaged or the data connection is lost. What's most fascinating are the so-called "mesh networks" which allow robots to maintain a flow of information amongst themselves and with their controllers on Earth and aboard the International Space Station in the event of a disrupted connection.  ... "

Pantene's Twitter Program

An interview about what they are calling Pantene's Powerful  Oscars Twitter Program.  Had missed the details of this, but the article is a good case study of the use of Twitter social in CPG event related campaigns.   " ... Pantene’s #WantThatHair Twitter program for the Oscars in February 2013 took the kind of unplanned twist that only an agile marketing team can be ready for, according to Kevin Crociata, marketing director of haircare, North America, and Rotha Penn, communications manager, US haircare, for the Procter & Gamble brand. In IEEE Spectrum: An intriguing view of upcoming robotics games and AI.  Will this result in game style interaction with the real world?  It could be described as a physical implementation of an agent model.   " ... Anki, a startup founded by three Carnegie Mellon roboticists, had been in stealth mode for a long time, but now it's ready to unveil its first product: a racing game featuring toy-size robotic cars controlled by iPhones. The company has raised an eye-popping $50 million from investors and says its racing game is "only the beginning."  .... '
